State Experiment Stations has obtained much needed basic data on the heat and moisture given off by cattle, hogs, and poultry, and on the influence of building environment on production and feed consumption. The-heat and moisture dissipation data are considered basic design data for ventilation systems of poultry, dairy, and swine buildings. They appear in design handbooks including the 1964 Guide and Data Book of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning Engineers, and are used by makers of ventilating equipment, prefabricated buildings and package buildings as well as by Specialists advising farmers on their own construction. Building improvements resulting from the above research have contributed to the substantial rise in efficiency of livestock pro duction that has occurred during the past decade.
