The farm meets the river in a precipitous, tree-fringed bluff from 20 to 30 feet high, which at low tide has a strip Of sandv shore (pl. IV, fig. All the buildings but one stand at intervals on a road running along the brink Of the bluff. In the middle Of the river front Of lot 1 are the house, surrounded by a yard with a paling fence and shaded by great locusts, and a horse barn with its corn house (see Pl. I, frontis piece, fig. In lot 2, touching the line dividing it from lot 1, is a cow barn, and at the middle Of lot 2 is a negro cabin. A storage barn stands several hundred yards south Of the cabin, at the northwest cor ner Of lot A (see map, Pl. II).
