Dieser Baum wächst an den niedersten bewaldeten Stellen der Andesgebirge, wo bei Nacht eine etwas kalte Temperatur herrscht, in den Umgebungen von Cinchao, Pati, Munna, Iscutunam, Casape, Casapillo und Chihuamocala, wo er vom Mai an bis zum September blüht. Der Stamm wird an vier Klafter hoch und hat eine ausgebreitete, ziemlich belaubte, Krone, seine Rinde ist aufsen braun, glatt, innen hell gelb roth, bitter und nicht unangenehm säuerlich schmeckend. Die %ingeren Zweige sind viereckig, glatt, beblättert und gefurcht.
