The author has continued his endeavor to present the subject of blood-pressure in a condensed and practical form as definitely as the present state of our knowledge permits. Wherever possible, a summary of the experimental as well as the clinical data available for the consideration of a given topic has been included, together with references to articles upon which statements are based.

As in the earlier edition the chapters upon Physiology and upon Venous Blood-pressure were written by Dr. J. Harold Austin, to whom the author is also indebted for assistance in the preparation of the chapter dealing with the Functional Efficiency of the C irou lation. The author's thanks are also due to Miss Eleanor A. Gantner for valuable assistance in the preparation of the charts and drawings, as well as in proof reading.
