A reaction in either case is not the end desired by the seeker after truth in history. Nor need. There be any fear that fidelity to the truth of what shall hereafter be written will make less illustrious or less loved and admired, the names of those whose fame has been made imperishable, by all the tests which time applies to the actions of men.
