Many of the advantages of using container-grown seedlings rather than bare-root stock have been dis cussed by various authors (stein and others 1975, Tinus 1976, Mann 1977, Stein and Owston 1977, Hahn 1982a). Advantages and disadvantages most appropriate for conditions in the southern United States are listed in table 2-1.
