A Conservative. In all, an witnesses were examined at this investigation. Oi whom 73 were deputy returning oflieers. Pr clerks or constables. The investigation showed that in 4 caac certain persons secured their appointment as deputy returning om'cers bv misrepresentation. And in some cases under assumed names. Naturally suspicion would attach to such a procedure, but, as already stated. After the closest investigation by the Commission, it was not shown that a single ballot was tampered with as falsereturn made by any returning officers. Ii fraud was intended. There is no prod that fraud was committed.
