When it is preferred, extemporaneous prayers may be substituted for those here given. The hymns may also be varied at the pleasure of the Superintendent. Those in the Services are in Long, Common and Short Metres, but in the collection there is an ample variety to suit all the tunes in use.

Asking an indulgence equal to the mistakes consequent upon a first edition, published at a distance from the author, he commits his little work to the hands of the public, desiring for it the favorable co-operation of the teachers and friends of Sunday Schools.
