His volume contains the Charters granted by the Crown to the Company of Clothworkers of the City of London. In the nineteenth year of King Henry VIII. [a.d. 1527 - 8] the ancient Fraternities or Guilds of the Fullers and Shearmen were united and conjoined by the name of The Guild or Fraternity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Clothworkers in the City Of London which title was confirmed to them by subsequent Charters, together with numerous privileges. The Charters of Incorporation of the Fullers and Shearmen, therefore, precede in these pages those of the Clothworkers' Company, and complete its corporate history.
