My Object, sug gested by the style of our higher instruction, was to indicate leading thoughts, historical connections, sources to be further worked out. Thus only a few citations are given from Descartes and Spinoza himself, while more is quoted from works which are difficult Of access. There is still much to do for a correct knowledge of Spinoza.
