I have selected five-bell peals because so many parishes have five or six bells, and these peals can be rung upon either number, and also on ac count of the length to which six or seven-d peals would extend, as will be seen by the table annexed to this paper. It is true that peals are so arranged as to bring the bells round in a much shorter time than all the changes would occupy, otherwise peals on from eight to twelve bells could never be rung at all, still they would be of a length far beyond the limit of these pages.
