But it appeared that other copies would be required, and therefore it was requested that they might be printed for private circulation. It was thought however that if the notes were of sufficient interest and value to be printed for private, they ought to be for pub lic circulation, inasmuch as it is the duty of every one to contribute according to his capabilities to the public service, and that what is useful or profitable to the few, is equally necessary, and should be rendered available to all.
