However, you are seized, gentlemen of the jury, with a great responsibility. You are the last hope of the subject in the matter of his personal liberty, and when all other things have failed he must place his hope in the judgment and con science of the jury. It is fortunate for me that some of my speeches have been preserved and have been put in evidence.
