Finalmente, trovandomi Napoli l'autunno del 1854, cono sciuto colà il sig.r Gottardi, primo attore di quella Real Com paguia drammatica e scorgendo in lui molta intelligenza ed attitudine per le parti di forza, gli diedi a leggere il mio Torquato: ed egli se ne compiacque sl fattamente che il giorno dopo venne a recitarmi tutto il monologo del secondo atto ed altre principali scene a provarmi la viva brama che aveva di farne in teatro l' esperimento. Presi da ciò buon augurio nell'awenturare per la prima volta questo dramma nelia patria dell' immortale Epico; e la riuscita fu tale da non potersene sperare una maggiore o più splendida. (5)
