The sailor is commanded to make ready the sails that the ship may put to sea; the fireman is exhorted to have engine, harness and horses in readiness in case of fire; the Christian is urged by the Master to be ready, for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son Of man cometh, (matt while a delightful readiness is associated with this invitation come - a monosyllable used throughout the Bible, to denote faith.
