The Church, I maintain, is not to blame for the state of things in the Presbytery of Hamilton. She has provided the best practical psalmody that has appeared in the memory of any living man, and conform to the correct models of the olden time that have come down to us from our fathers and if they will not be at the trouble of learning it, they have themselves to blame.

We cannot afford to cast these away even to pleasure Mr Buchanan, and Mr Hamilton, with Mr Buchan, to boot, but as this topic will meet me again, I now proceed to the next point raised in the overture, - and that is, the large subject of the materials for God's worship and praise.
