The great favor with which the American Speaker has been received encourages the compiler to believe that a volume composed exclusively of dialogues would meet with public approval; and in accordance with this belief, he has prepared this book. In its preparation he has endeavored to select such dialogues as contain good sentiments, and such as will have a salutary influence over the minds of the young. A few exercises have been used whose chief tendency is to illustrate individ ual peculiarities.
