Having been authorized by the Quarterly Conference of the Jonesboro Methodist Church, in 1953, to write a his tory of the Church, I have decided that it would be di cult to write one without mentioning the fact that since its origin this church has been a part of the Jonesboro charge of the Fayetteville District, North Carolina Con ference.

It seems appropriate to say in the beginning that this church was established as a Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and remained such until Methodist Union came in 1939 when the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Meth odist Protestant Church and the M. E. Church, South, were merged into the Methodist Church.
