Excerpt from Gastropods of the Middle Devonian Anderdon Limestone

Following the section on paleoecology there is a brief discussion of preser vation and techniques. Almost all of the gastropods occur as external molds in various states of preservation. To study the gastropods it was necessary to make casts of each mold, and this was accomplished by using a latex molding compound. Most photographs used in the plates are of the latex casts.
