Excerpt from The Christian Sun, Vol. 64: August 28, 1912
John the Baptizer was yet a man in health, hope and strength, when wicked hands' were laid upon him and a desper ate design wrought his untimely death.
He remained faithful to the end. He had led an unselfish life. He had lived hard, worked zealously, wrought well. No crime could be laid at his door, save that he was a preacher of righteousness, and dared to tell the truth. If the truth hurt a governor in his palace, or a king upon his throne, it was no fault of John's. His was a voice crying in the wilderness calling upon men to forsake sin, reject error and turn to the truth.
