Alex Gitterman is Professor of Social Work at Columbia University.

Carel B. Germain was Professor of Social Work Emerita at the University of Connecticut. She is the author ofHuman Behavior in the Social Environment and editor of Social Work Practice: People and Environments.Alex Gitterman is professor of social work at Columbia University. He is the coeditor ofMutual Aid Groups: Vulnerable Populations and the Life Cycle and editor ofHandbook of Social Work Practice with Vulnerable Populations. He is editor of Columbia's series,Empowering the Powerless: A Social Work Series.
