Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

William S. F. Pickering has been an Anglican priest since 1950. He was for twenty years a lecturer in Sociology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He is currently the General Secretary of the British Centre for Durkheimian Studies, at Oxford University. Among his publications are Durkheim on Religion (Routledge & Kegan Paul, 1975), Durkheim: Essays on Morals and Education (Routledge & Kegan Paul, 178), Sociology and Theology: Alliance and Conflict (Harvester Press, 1980), A Social History of the Diocese of Newcastle 1882-1982 (Oriel Press, 1981) and The Hutterites (Ward Lock Educational, 1982). His book Study in Religious Ambiguity has recently been reprinted by James Clarke & Co.
