About the book >.>.> Though Taddeo Zuccaro (1529-66) and his brother Federico (1540/1-1609) have long been recognized as two of the most influential Italian painters of the later sixteenth century, Taddeo's reputation has been eclipsed by that of his less talented but longer-lived younger brother. In this book an attempt is made to correct the balance by distinguishing Taddeo, for the first time, as a separate artistic personality. Mr Gere, Deputy Keeper in the British Museum Print Room and a specialist in Italian draw- ings of the sixteenth century, who began this study to clear the ground for a volume of the Museum catalogue, has brought to light more than 200 drawings by Taddeo Zuccaro in museums and private collections in Europe and in the United States.
