This text gives social work students a background in organizational theory and shows how to apply different practice approaches when managing in multicultural organizational settings. The text is theoretically driven and focuses on historical and post-modern theories of organization and organizational behavior, with an emphasis on the importance of self-awareness and critical thinking in organizational practice. Several frameworks are presented for organizational practice, and examples are given from planning and advocacy organizations in public, nonprofit, and for-profit sectors.
