Parallel Processing:The Transputer and its Applications (International Computer Science Series) - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

The Inmos Transputer has proved its value as a powerful building block in a new generation of parallel computer systems. This book provides a self-contained guide to transputer programming, architecture and applications.

Highlights of the book include:

• A concise tutorial on parallel programming, featuring languages like C, Fortran and Pascal in addition to an in-depth treatment of the transputer's 'native' language, occam
• A wide-ranging review of hardware configurations, including interfacing and the integration of board and system level components
• A collection of case studies illustrating the benefits of parallel processing in applications as diverse as image processing, physiological modelling, pollution dispersion, database systems, robot control and ray traced graphics

The book is equally suitable for students of computer science and engineering studying parallel processing, and for project managers or software engineers requiring a single-source reference showing how the transputer's performance has been exploited in practice.
