John Rennie Short is Professor of Geography and Public Policy at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The author of thirty-seven books and numerous papers in academic journals, he is the recipient of awards from the National Science Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Geographic Society, and the Social Science Research Council.
