This volume collects together 15 studies of Virgil by leading authorities in the field, published between 1972 and 1986 in the journal "Greece and Rome". Virgil (70-19 BC) remains the most important of the Roman poets and his poems the "Eclogues", "Georgics" and Aeneid" continue to command a wide critical interest. All three are discussed here, the emphasis being mainly literary, although historical context is not ignored.
