Oxford Reading Tree: Levels 13-14: Treetops True Stories: Antarctic Adventure - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

TreeTops True Stories are exciting, motivating non-fiction books which will broaden your pupils' reading experience. They are part of a structured reading programme for juniors. This is the gripping narrative of Sir Ranulph Fiennes' journey across the frozen-wastes of Antarctica with his companion Dr Mike Stroud. They are the first to attempt a walk across this vast landmass with no rescuers nearby, and pulling heavily-loaded sleds behind them. Two optimistic men embark on a journey of discovery about themselves and each other as much as the inhospitable landscape around them. The journey is fraught with danger, and the men are soon demoralised and beginning to hate each other. Anna Perera accurately recounts the tensions and dramas on their journey, and this text is supported by stunning photography and artwork. Books contain inside cover notes to support children in their reading. Help with childrens reading development also available at www.oxfordowl.co.uk. This book is also available as part of a mixed pack of 6 different books or a class pack of 36 books of the same Oxford Reading Tree level.
