Reseña del editor

With the publication of this tenth volume, the "English Episcopal Acta" is building into a major corpus of documents on the medieval English church. This volume provides further evidence of the growing professionalism and standardization of administrative practices in the 12th century. Dr Ramsey also investigates in some detail the relationship between three important churches in the diocese - Bath, Wells and Glastonbury. She argues that the secular canons of Wells continued to assert their rights to elect the bishops, even after the cathedral had moved from Wells to Bath in the late 11th century She describes Bishop Savaric's annexation of the powerful abbey of Glastonbury in the 1190s.
