Michael S. Kimmel is Professor of Sociology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is author ofManhood in America: A Cultural History, Second Edition (OUP, 2006); coeditor, with Rebecca F. Plante, ofSexualities: Identities, Behaviors, and Society (OUP, 2005); and coeditor, with Michael A. Messner, ofMen's Lives, Seventh Edition (2006).

Amy Aronson is Assistant Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at Fordham University. She is author ofTaking Liberties: Early American Women's Magazines and Their Readers (2002).
