Based on Oxford's larger Atlas of the World, this title has two separate series of maps, each with its own index, as well as four consecutive series of page numbers. The format can be confusing and makes Oxford's Concise Atlas harder to use than Goode's. But Oxford is certainly comparable in terms of depth of coverage. There's a good introductory section on projections and scales, and the thematic maps and charts have a fresher look than Goode'sAthis makes the maps more dramatic, but harder to read. Oxford also makes more liberal use of shaded relief for a similar effect. The large Oxford reference maps have more detail than Goode's, but Goode's counters this by providing many inset maps on areas of interest. Overall, the Oxford is a worthy atlas that, for reference use, ranks slightly below the Goode's.
