With one page for each scale, its arpeggio, a piece, a study, and a musicianship exercise, it is a clearly organised and a very welcome resource book. There is a good mix of folk, classical and specially-written pieces and, most usefully, an explanation of the dominant 7th. It promises to be a valuable addition to the violin-teaching repertoire. Authors Kathy and David Blackwell lay out easy-to-follow and fun exercises. The books are filled with colorful illustrations and most of the musical exercises include whimsical lyrics and fun tips. (Strings (US) Oct 03)
