The flora of the Himalaya is of exceptional interest. This volume describes some 1500 species found in the upper valleys, hills, and higher mountainous regions between 1200m and 5500m. Over 690 colour photographs taken in the field are included which, along with 315 line drawings, illustrate over 1000 species. There is a guide to plant hunting, and also descriptions of how climate, geology, soils, altitude, and man's activities affect vegetation.
