Soft cover. Zustand: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First Harvest/HBJ edition 1986, 1st printing. Translated by Catherine S. Leach. 102 pages. Bright, clean & tight copy, unread, in Near Fine condition. "In three scathingly humorous reviews of not-yet-written books, Stanislaw Lem brings us insights into the life of the 21st century. 'One Human Minute' summarizes the activities of every person on earth during a single minute. 'The Upside-Down Evolution' depicts a battlefield devoid of human activity, where synthetic bugs--synsects--vie for supremacy. 'The World as Cataclysm' unfolds the universe as a crooked roulette wheel, where cosmic catastrophe prevails over orderly evolution. All reflect the speculative imagination and dark humor that have made Lem a grand master of the science fiction genre." [publisher copy] "Mr. Lem is a moralist, an ironist, a man of wide erudition (in both science and literature) who has little patience with the shortcomings of his fellow man."--Gerald Jonas, NYTimes Book Review. "It is exhilarating to watch Lem building his argument, a splendid performance by a powerful mind."--Robert Silverberg. Pristine paperback w/sharp corners & crisp edges, a tight binding w/no creases in spine, minor foxing on edge & slight used-bookstore smell. Artikel-Nr. RUB1726
