Mostly, these are not ghost stories per se, rather they are narratives about recorded spirit sightings. The text, written in a chatty, readable style, explains these spirit visions, distinguishing between multiple witness sightings, which have greater credibility, and isolated one-time-only sightings. Curses, witchings, and ghostings are cited, including mysteries at sea such as the Bermuda Triangle and the Flying Dutchman phantom sailing ship. Odd occurences, like the 1855 sighting of 420,000 separate single-file horseshoe-shaped footprints in the deep snow in south Devonshire, England, are also featured.
