Solar Chimney Power Plant Generating Technology reviews the developments in research, of the last 20 years, into the technologies of solar chimney power plant systems (SCPPS). The book provides authoritative guidance on improving the design of SCPPS to produce more efficient, economical, and commercially competitive designs. Suggestions for future research directions are also discussed, ranging from basic theories to commercial applications (particularly largescale SCPPS).
Topics include:
• Energy storage performance of different SCPPS
• Optimization of the dimensions of SCPPS
• Minimizing the effect of ambient crosswinds on the performance of SCPPS
• An experimental investigation of a solar chimney prototype
Key Features
• A detailed analysis of the helio-aero-gravity effect and the thermodynamics of SCPPS
• Provides guidance to developers of SCPPS by outlining the basic mechanisms of fluid flow,
heat transfer, power output, energy storage, and the operational procedures of SCPPS
turbines
• Design and simulation methods for SCPPS turbines
