Inhaltsangabe

We will provide material that will drill the user in problem-solving techniques. These books would be ideal for young engineers just starting out in the their careers, who may not remember the fundamental problem-solving techniques they were taught in their beginning engineering education, or will benefit from the refresher when faced with their first big project at their new company. Each subtopic under Mechanics will be addressed in a separate section. Each section will begin with a brief explanation of the topic. Then the math derivations will be provided. This information does not intend to teach the topic, yet provides a reference to the topic, or brief synopsis. After the derivations, there will be 5 fully worked out problems, then 5 practice problems. The solutions to the practice problems will be available on the companion website. They will make use of practical issues, and will force the user to look at the same problem from various angles, thereby driving home the problem-solving technique. Key Features: • Covers the core areas of the topic: Statics Dynamics Strenghth of materials • Hundreds of fully worked-out problems and practice problems

Mechanical engineers must solve complex problems, day after day. This book is the perfect helper. Whether you’re in your first month on the job, your tenth year, or still in the classroom, the problem-solving techniques in this book will help you survive—and thrive. Based on McGraw-Hill’s Marks’ Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers, the most widely used reference in the field, this unique refresher course/self-teaching tool/skill builder can help you:

*Hone problem-solving skills with 100s of solved and practice examples that force you to approach problems from different angles
*Survive the “weeding-out” freshman and sophomore years of engineering when you must prove you can handle the math
*Overcome the most difficult aspect of engineering—the mathematical problems
*Polish and improve your most valuable engineering asset: problem-solving techniques
*Build skills in all core areas: statics, dynamics, and strength of materials

*Target areas of difficulty
*Find answers to practice problems Mathematical theory is fully described in easy to understand language. The reading is concise and easy to follow. You’ll easily find answers to the questions that you ask.
