Softcover. Zustand: gut. Auflage: 2. A. (1. Januar 2001). This work contains models to help illustrate the disagreements over answers to research questions and show students how to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the contemporary leading views on macroeconomics. End-of-chapter problems are a substantial section of the book and further expand discussion of the broad spectrum of ideas presented with each topic. Balanced treatment of competing theories aim to aid classroom discussion and student judgments of material. Designed for graduate courses in macroeconomics, this text provides a discussion of major issues and competing theories. The presentation of theories is supplemented with examples of relevant empirical work as a way of illustrating how macroeconomic theories can be applied or tested. David Romer's Advanced Macroeconomics, 2e is the standard text and the starting point for graduate macro courses and helps lay the groundwork for students to begin doing research in macroeconomics and monetary economics. A series of formal models are used to present and analyze important macroeconomic theories. The theories are supplemented by examples of relevant empirical work, which illustrate the ways that theories can be applied and tested. This well-respected and well-known text is virtually unique in the marketplace. Synopsis David Romer's "Advanced Macroeconomics, 2e" is the standard text and the starting point for graduate macro courses and helps lay the groundwork for students to begin doing research in macroeconomics and monetary economics. If you're tired of abstract functions and graphs and want to see real algebra and calculus applied to economics, then this book is for you. It's far superior to any "intermediate" level textbook. Romer's work scans the vast literature of economic models and lays them out one by one--and then critiques each of them--so this is a real textbook, rather than a treatise. The writing is clear. There are 29 sections for empirical applications, which is quite unusual for an economic textbook. The problem sets go into great detail; the solutions manual is a must to obtain! I have just a few nits: there is no glossary of symbols either at the front or back of the book or at the beginning or end of each chapter. The chapter on inflation was a little funny because Romer says he doesn't understand the costs of inflation! In the early chapters on growth theory, Romer lumps A (technology) in with L (labor) to get "effective labor"; I prefer to keep it separate, because A could just as well be applied to K (capital)--or to the front of the Cobb-Douglas aggregate production equation. But it's not too difficult to transform Romer's equations to the "Hick's Neutral Form." Anyway, highly recommended to serious students of economics. Content: The Solow growth model; infinite-horizon and overlapping-generations models; new growth theory; real-business-cycle theory; traditional Keynesian theories of fluctuations; microeconomic foundations of incomplete nominal adjustment; consumption; investment; unemployment and the labour market; inflation and monetary policy; budget deficits and fiscal policy.Advanced Macroeconomics Makroökonomie Makroökonomik VWL Wirtschaft Volkswirtschaftslehre Wirtschaftswissenschaften Ökonomie Mankiw Wöhe BWL Betriebswirtschaftslehre Jake Bernstein Seasonality Saisonalitäten Börse Wall Street Commodities Rohstoffe Aktien Verlagsort: New York Sprache: englisch Wirtschaft Volkswirtschaftslehre VWL Makroökonomie ISBN-10: 0-07-118131-8 / 0071181318 ISBN-13: 978-0-07-118131-0 / 9780071181310 In englischer Sprache. 672 pages. 23,4 x 16,4 x 3 cm.
