This is a bibliography, organized by topic, of more than 2000 children's science and maths books, videos, magazines and kits. In addition, step-by-step activities accompany the extensive listing, providing instant "lessons" on the subject. Activities revolve around practical, everyday endeavours such as cooking, making crafts and observing how commonplace things work. Books and activities especially suited to a particular age group are annotated. The work is designed for teachers but may also be useful for parents, grandparents and youth workers. Topics covered include energy, machines and models; birds and small animals; rocks, fossils and dinosaurs; and hiking and camping. The book concludes with a chapter on how to use the library for scientific research.
Biografía del autor
Phyllis Perry held a number of positions in the Boulder Valley Schools, including teacher, principal and director of talented and gifted education. An award-winning author of more than eighty books, she has published seven books about Colorado, including two about Rocky Mountain National Park. She is a member of the Colorado Authors' League and of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
