Quarter bound in publisher's blue cloth over green boards, silver lettering on spine, publisher's logo blind-stamped on cover, green endpapers. Introduction by James MacGregor Burns. This is a study of the comparative styles of five U. S. Presidents: Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and Warren G. Harding. Samuel Irving Rosenman (1896-1973) was an American lawyer, judge, Democratic Party activist and presidential speechwriter. He helped articulate liberal policies during the heyday of the New Deal Coalition. Rosenman was a senior advisor to presidents Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman. Under their administrations, he was a leading figure in the war crimes issue. He was also the first official White House Counsel, then called Special Counsel, between 1943 and 1946. His wife, Dorothy Rosenman (1900-1991), was an authority on housing and a lifelong advocate of low-cost housing. The volume is in perfect, pristine condition, unmarked, unread, tight, square and clean. The unclipped dust jacket, now in Mylar, has a large closed tear on the front panel, else very good.
