Inhaltsangabe

As in his Channel 4 series Whicker's War, Alan Whicker now emerges from behind the camera to talk us through the struggle against Adolf Hitler's invincible Wehrmacht in Italy, to give us a first-hand flavour of a savage and forgotten world.
Now at last we go back with him, back to the day when his travels began - when the British Eighth Army invaded Sicily and pursued the German Tenth and Fourteenth Armies up the boot of Italy to the Swiss Alps, and defeat. It's a true adventure story; daily he faced death, once he was a multimillionaire...
He captured the last stronghold of the German SS, served with a vain Allied General so determined to win credit for liberating Rome that his disobedience lengthened the war by a year... and watched the gruesome spectacle of Dictator Benito Mussolini hanging upside down outside a Milan garage next to his loyal mistress.
