Lindenstrasse Memorial Site: From a House of Terror to the Potsdam House of Democracy (Historic Places) - Softcover

Located in the heart of historic Potsdam, the Lindenstrasse memorial site is a unique place of memory. With its history under National Socialism as well as in the Soviet Occupation Zone and GDR, it is a symbol of the political persecution and violence practiced during two different German dictatorships in the course of the twentieth century. At the same time it stands for the efforts to overcome communist one-party rule, and the victory of democracy ushered in by the Peaceful Revolution of 1989/90.

Hans-Hermann Hertle: born in 1955 in Eisern (Westphalia, Siegen district), studied history and political science in Marburg and Berlin; 1985-99 research assistant at the Free University of Berlin in addition to working as a documentary filmmaker, scholarly publicist and writer; since the end of 1999 senior research fellow at the Center for Contemporary History (ZZF) in Potsdam. Gabriele Schnell born in 1955 in Falkenstein (Saxony, Vogtland region), studied water management; has worked since 1990 as a publicist, project manager and consultant in the field of political education; since 2003 project work researching and documenting the history of the Lindenstrasse memorial site and curator of its permanent exhibition; from 2012 to 2014 commissioner of the Lindenstrasse memorial site; since 2014 freelance publicist.
