Loreen Niewenhuis has lived in Michigan for most of her life. Her previous writings have been published in literary journals, including the Antioch Review and Bellevue Literary Review. Her short-story collection, Scar Tissue, was a finalist in the 2009 Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction. She lives in Battle Creek, Michigan.
