The Southern Way Issue No 17 - Softcover

Issue No. 17 is the next installment in the Southern Way series; this is the first of the four regular volumes for 2012 and starts with a definite first: a detailed feature in color on permanent way. Regular features on this subject have proven to be one of the most popular items and the reader is in for a definite treat this time. The mundane is not forgotten either, with a very readable, and at times most amusing, piece on luggage labels! The more serious is not forgotten either, with more on locomotive design by Phil Atkins. This new addition to the series also includes some of the items left out of Issue No. 16, namely the Catford Loop and the hilarious reminiscences of a former lamp-lad turned fireman from Andover/Salisbury. Full to the brim with informative text and a variety of photographs, this issue will not disappoint-a definite must have for any Southern rail devotee.

Kevin Robertson had his first article on the local railway published when he was just fourteen. He took up full-time writing in 1982 and has since published numerous books on the railway scene including The Leader Project: Fiasco or Triumph?, which was published by Ian Allan Publishing in 2007 to critical and commercial acclaim. He has written a wide selection of books for the Ian Allan list, and is a particular expert on all things relating to the Southern Region. He also runs his own publishing company, Noodle Books, and currently lives in Corhampton in Hampshire.
