Reseña del editor:

When Harry bought a car he could not have foreseen the problems it would cause him. Unable to get reasonable mileage from it he investigates and discovers a false petrol tank has been fitted and hidden inside are dozens of bars of gold...

Where more weak-willed men would keep the treasure for themselves, Harry does the decent and honourable thing and hands it in to the authorities. Unfortunately the weak-willed man who hid the gold there years before finally comes looking for it.

A campaign of harassment and attempted violence forces Harry on the run from the man's gang and, it would appear, the authorities themselves who are suspicious about the whole story.

Halfway across Europe in post-war Germany Harry thinks he's safe staying with a local couple and their beautiful daughter, but the bad luck that has dogged him since his unfortunate purchase is about to find him once more.

Biografía del autor:

The author was born in humble circumstances to Mum and Dad on a council estate in Shafton Nr Barnsley. Dad was a collier and Mum was a clippie during 1929, the year of the Wall Street crash. Harry attended the elementary and secondary modern schools in the area. His dad got him a job at the local butcher when he left school. This continued until Harry volunteered for the army and took the Kings shilling in 1946. During his service he was promoted to sergeant before he was 19. He was then posted to Hamburg in Germany to run a coal depot. After he was demobbed, it proved a bitterly cold winter and Harry got a job as a credit salesman. Before long he was running the gents department in a department store. The prospects were bleak and it was demolished in the name of progress. So the author went to work as a cashier on a building site. He eventually started owning and running his own business selling and hiring Stihl saws until he retired.
