Work has taken him to Kenya, Tanzania where he attended a course in rural African socialism, the Caribbean working as a translator and deckhand on a luxury yacht, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, where he set up a clinic for a wealthy sheik, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman where he set up a private practice, and, lastly, Australia where he has worked in various states. At fifty-three, he currently resides in London with his partner, Helen, although he considers Perth, Western Australia to be 'home', and is now an Australian citizen.
