Arturo Madrid is the Murchison Distinguished Professor of Humanities at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the National Humanities Medal. He has served on the board of and as consultant to many national Hispanic cultural and sociopolitical organizations and is widely admired within the Latino community.

Miguel Gandert is one of America's leading documentary photographers. His work has been exhibited widely, including at the Whitney Biennial, and appears in many books. He is a professor at the University of New Mexico.
