Daniel Snowman has spent most of his professional life at the BBC, where he was Chief Producer Features (Radio), responsible for a wide range of programmes on culture and history. He took a Double First at Cambridge and at the age of 24 was a Lecturer at the University of Sussex. He has written several books, including Fins De Siecle- How Centuries End, 1400 - 2000, co-authored with Asa Briggs, Past/Masters- The Best Of History Today, and biographies of Placido Domingo and the members of the Amadeus Quartet. He lives in London
