Dedijer, Vladimir. TITO. NY: Simon & Schuster, (c. 1952) 1953.
The book's spine is darkened. Lettering, 'tho no longer bright, is readily legible. Otherwise minor wear and soil on the sound binding. Endpapers are lightly-to-moderately foxed. Maybe half-a-dozen pages have tiny, insignificant stains, mostly in the margins, otherwise the contents are clean and unmarked. No dust jacket. ; Full gray cloth, gold lettering. Index. BIOGRAPHY. To the extent that it was possible, Dedijer has told Tito's story in Tito's own words, for they spoke often of his youth in his native village, of his years as a wandering mechanic in the workshops of Europe, of his struggles as a socialist for the rights of workers, of hunger strikes and of the many years he spent in different jails. Dedijer filled the gaps from the words of Tito's friends and associates, and from documents, plus calling upon his own recollections of events for he had been and was, at publication a member of the movement which Tito led. This is also the story of Yugoslavia, especially of the years leading up to World War II, World War II itself, and the post-war period 'til publication. ; 8-1/2" Tall; 443 pages.
