SUKARNO, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA" was published by The People's Fine Arts Publishing House at Peking (China) consisting of Volumes I and II which were later followed by Volumes III and IV in 1959. The above mentioned publication consists of only 384 paintings, while His Excellency's collection of paintings is always increasing in accordance with the development of Indonesian culture and arts ever since the proclamation of Independence. Remembering the saying His Excellency President Sukarno, that freedom is like a golden bridge from which a nation can develop the power to create not only in the material sense but also in the Spiritual and cultural section, the committee considers the time has come to publish by themselves the "PAINTINGS AND STATUES FROM THE COLLECTION OF PRESIDENT SUKARNO OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA", which publication is more complete one. A team of experts has been appointed to edit this publication consisting of five volumes. Volumes I to IV compose of 100 reproductions of paintings which have been carefully selected for each volume, while Volume V is composed of 167 reproductions of sculptures and porcelams which are quite exquisite. It is to be hoped that this publication, äs the previous one, will be received warmly bv art enthusiasts all over the world.
